Restaurant Week Top Five

Today I was chatting with someone who mentioned how much they enjoy when I posts lists on the blog.  For those of you who do not know, this is Restaurant Week on Amelia Island which is a week of special tasting menus at local restaurants to highlight their offerings.  So because I also appreciate a good list, here is Restaurant Week Top Five for you.  See full Restaurant Week details here: restaurantweek.ameliaisland.com

  1. 801 Kitchen and Bar-Located in the old Beech Street Grille location, this new Southern Style Kitchen is a must try.  With the same owners as two of my favorite spots to eat, Bar Zin and Cucina South, the track record of amazing food and tasty drink pairings is a sure win.
  2. Burlingame-Chef Chad, formerly a chef at Triple Diamond Ritz Carlton’s restaurant Salt, creates delicious and beautiful seasonal American foods that are always a surprise to the palate.  One of my favorite spots on the island.
  3. Lucas on Centre-Located in historic downtown and owned by Luca of Ciao Bistro, this restaurant has become one of my go-to places for clean Italian food and wine.  Cheese plates, fresh sliced meats, bento boxes, brunch, perfect craft cocktails and fresh baked cookies are all reasons to give Lucas a try.
  4. Salty Pelican-The perfect beach dive bar situated just off of Centre Street downtown, overlooking the water.  This is my go-to sunset viewing spot as well as the best place for a Bloody Mary and fresh seafood.  Fresh fried local shrimp and the tuna nachos are my usual choices. Sit upstairs.
  5. Le Clos-The New Orleans vibe combined with the Old Fernandina feel that I get when I eat at this restaurant combined with the impeccably good French cuisine keep this small restaurant, located downtown in a small yellow house, on my favorites list.  I have never eaten anything here that was not perfectly prepared.  After my wedding ceremony that took place at Trinity United Methodist, the historic African American church built in 1891, my husband and I dined at Le Clos.  It will always hold a special place in my heart and stomach.

Please let me know which restaurants you try this week and your thoughts on the experience!
